Dodds to leave OgilvyAction to head enlarged Proximity
Mike Dodds, the chief executive of OgilvyOne, is leaving the agency to become chief executive of Proximity.
Cilla Snowball, chairman of Proximity and the AMV group, said: “Mike brings gravitas, experience and a track record of delivering great digital and creative offerings to clients. Mike is someone we have admired from afar for years and we are thrilled he is now part of our team.”
Paul O’Donnell, chairman, EAME of OgilvyOne Worldwide, said: “We are sorry to see Mike go, he has made a huge contribution to this agency, and we wish him all the best in his new endeavour.
“Meanwhile, it is very much ‘business as usual’ here for both our clients and our staff. Our talented and long-serving senior management, led by Annette King and Sam Williams-Thomas, will ensure that the agency will continue to run as smoothly as ever.”
Dodds will replace Amanda Phillips who resigned last week in advance of Proximity merging with Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel.
Craik Jones’s chief executive, Mike Welsh, is also leaving to take up the role of executive chairman of Publicis Dialog. He replaces Dennis Kerslake who is moving to head Publicis’s Citi account across Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
BBDO, part of Omnicom, announced in August that it was merging direct agency Craik Jones into its integrated digital and direct agency Proximity, which are both part of its AMV Group of agencies.
Dodds has worked at Ogilvy for 12 years and was appointed chief executive of OgilvyOne in 2007 after three years as managing director of the agency.
